Level Up at Your Library: Summer Reading for All Ages

This summer, we're leveling up! We have reading programs, prizes, and special events for all ages as part of our Summer Reading Program. Follow the links below for details. Registration for the reading program and summer events will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2.

Library Director Passing the Torch
Congratulations to Library Director Matthew Suddarth on his upcoming retirement! He has been our Director for more than 22 years, and has seen the library through our renovation project, the shift to more digital technologies, the rise of eBooks, and much more. During his retirement, he hopes to have more time to travel, visit loved ones, and bike across Illinois’ many beautiful trails.

We’d like to welcome our new Director, Joe Marcantonio! He has been an innovator in services to teens and young adults, with his most current position being Teen Manager at Schaumburg Township District Library. We’re glad to welcome him back to Winfield, as he was born and raised here. His first library job was as a page here at Winfield Library, and he’s now married to the woman he was dating back then. They have two children, ages 4 and 9. We look forward to welcoming Joe to the staff.

Matthew and Joe will be working together throughout June, before Matthew retires at the end of the month. We wish him all the best in his retirement.

Winfield Library Friends Summer Fundraiser

Visit the Portillo’s at 235 North Ave. in Glendale Heights on Thursday, June 12 between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. and 20% of sales will benefit the Friends. Order online using code PORTILLOS2 in the "Coupon Code" field. When ordering at the restaurant, show your cashier the flier (available at the library), or show the digital version of the flier.

Events Calendar & Program Registration
Events are clearly labeled on the calendar view as Registration Open, Registration Full, or Waiting List Open. You can also see how many seats are still available for each event requiring registration. Events are color-coded: dark blue for adults, green for teens, purple for children, and light blue for all ages.
