hoopla

hoopla

  • Movies, TV, music, comics, eBooks and eAudiobooks with no holds and no waiting.
  • Hoopla is an all-in-one media service where you can browse more than 950,000 titles in six different formats and
instantly borrow, then download or stream, the titles of your choice.

  • Supported devices: Android devices, iOS devices, Kindle Fire and FireTV, Chromecast, AppleTV, AndroidTV, and Roku.

  • Create a hoopla account:
    • Visit hoopladigital.com or download the hoopla app.
    • Provide an email address and create a password.
    • Select Winfield Library as your library.
    • Provide your Winfield Library card number and password. Although it asks for a PIN, what you need is the same password you use to log in to the regular library catalog.
    • After setting up your account, you will log in with the email you entered and password you created.

  • Checkout limits: Unlike the library’s other content platforms, hoopla is a cost-per-use service, with the library paying for each checkout in lieu of a set annual fee. Because of this pricing model, there is a limit of ten checkouts per month per library card.

  • Checkout periods:
    • 21 days - eBooks, eAudiobooks, comics and graphic novels
    • 7 days - Full music albums
    • 3 days - Movies and TV episodes

  • Downloading information:
    • Downloading is not available through web browsers, so content cannot be transferred to an mp3, nor can it be sent to your Amazon Kindle E-Reader. Downloading is available through the hoopla app, however downloaded titles are wholly contained within the hoopla app to protect against piracy – files will not appear in iTunes or other “downloads” folders.
    • When you first attempt to download a hoopla title we will ask for download permission. We need permission to access your phone's storage so we can download the title for you.
    • All eBooks and Comics are downloaded to your device by default; you must allow this permission to access this content. Denying this permission will still allow you the ability to stream Movie, Television, Audiobook, and Music titles.

  • Kids Mode: Click the Kids button and it will limit searches and browsing to materials for kids 12 and under. Click it again to show all materials.
  • Action Mode: Comics readers can click Action Mode to read comics panel-by-panel instead of page-by-page. Click on any panel on the page to enter Action Mode.
  • Bonus Borrows: Several times a year, hoopla offers Bonus Borrows, which don’t go against the 5 checkout limit.
  • Click here to visit the hoopla help page.
