Do you enjoy working in a mostly quiet, organized environment? Are you dependable, detail-oriented, and take pride in keeping things in order? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

The Winfield Public Library is seeking a friendly and reliable Library Shelver to help keep our collection organized and accessible for our community.

What You'll Do

• Shelve library materials accurately using the Dewey Decimal System.
• Cover and process library books and materials.
• Empty the book drop and keep shelves neat, organized, and in proper order.
• Assist with other miscellaneous library tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must successfully pass a shelving test.
• Ability to reach shelves of varying heights, bend, stoop, and push fully loaded book carts.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Schedule
This is a part-time position that includes:

• Two evening shifts each week (5:00–9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday).
• Two 4-hour Saturday afternoon shifts each month (1:00-5:00 p.m.).
• Additional hours as needed to support library operations.

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting pay: $15.00 per hour.
• Paid Time Off: Equivalent to one typical work week each year.

The Winfield Library Friends are always looking for new faces to fill their many volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Below are just a few of the abundant opportunities to help the Friends support the Library:

1. Book Sale: sort and sell books (Friends who do get first choice!)
2. Hospitality: provide refreshments for programs
3. Fundraising: donations, prizes for special events
4. Publicity: making signs/posters, writing newsletters, mailings, graphic design
